It´s only a couple days to christmas, the first snow falls down and gives the city, where the people get ready for the peaceful festivities, a white and somehow stunningly beautiful almost magical look. Smoke wafts out of the chimneys while the children are stunned by the choice of christmas pastries at the local bakery. The whole city smells like cinnamon and just waits for it´s inhabitants to get back to their cozy houses and celebrate the wonderful christmas days.

This cheesy image of christmas gets literally blown away in Buenos Aires. Already weeks before christmas, it seems like every 5 minutes somebody lights some firecracker that actually has the potential to be heard from 30 blocks away. These “christmas reminders” lead the way to a christmas celebration with fireworks, people dancing and enjoying the warm nights of Buenos Aires until the morning sun illuminates the city. Celebrating and listening to music all night lets you experience christmas from a complete different point of view. Furthermore the warm climate encourages you to go out and jump into a great night driven by “latin dance beats” instead of “cheap department store christmas jingles”.

Imagining these parties just a lot bigger and with a lot more people gets us close to what New Years is in Buenos Aires. Celebrating New Years with as it seems more fireworks than any western metropolitan area gives you a special feeling that just keeps you smiling for hours. Around 1 or 2 o´clock everybody is looking for good parties and it´s not a very difficult search. Just follow the music and you will find whatever you desire from an Electronic Dj Set in a Park to the coolest Party in the most famous club of town. Friendly and welcoming as the Argentinians are it is easy to get in touch with locals and celebrate together.

Buenos Aires, a very interesting and attractive city surprises you with new ways of celebrating two of the years most important events. As a foreigner or an argentinian you will be impressed by the stunning possibilities this city offers at night. Prepare for a great experience and pack your bags for next year. And don´t forget: No warm clothes needed!
